Local Restaurants Vol 6 – More Pizza!
Posted by disneyholidaytownhome on February 16, 2008
While staying for a re-stocking/cleaning weekend at Disney Holiday Townhome (DHT), my family and I tried another pizzeria that I thought was worth writing about. Pizza is just so easy to order, especially after a long day at the parks – or in our case – cleaning in preparation for our next guests!
Flippers Pizzeria
We found Flippers while looking for a Thai restaurant. After driving around for awhile, we finally gave up and decided on the only thing we could all agree upon – pizza! I told the family that we had already been to NYPD Pizza, and that I wanted to try something else. Well, we didn’t have to go any further than across the street from NYPD! Flippers is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of SR-535 (Vineland) and US 192 (Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway), and is just under 1 mile from DHT.
Flippers is a local chain, with six locations in the Kissimmee and Orlando area. They serve incredible tasting brick oven pizza. This really brings back memories of a little pizzeria in my hometown in Iowa. I haven’t had a good brick oven pizza in years! In addition to your typical “build your own” pizza, there are also some intriguing specialty pizzas, including the Sonoma, the Bacon Double Cheesburger, and the Chicken Alfredo.
Besides pizza, Flippers also has salads, wraps, sandwiches, and some penne pasta dishes. Beverages range from soft drinks to wine and beer. Nothing exotic here, but does it need to be? The pizza is the centerpiece, and it performs well as Flippers’ “Master of Ceremony”.
Now our family (and our guests) have two great pizzerias to choose from. Want some New York style pizza? Head over to NYPD! Are you more interested in a great brick oven pizza? Flippers fills the bill nicely!
